Before you transfer or restore your iTunes media library on your PC, consolidate it and create a back up. Your iTunes library, a database that's made up of all of the music and other media that you add to iTunes for Windows, is organized into two iTunes library files and an iTunes Media folder. Consolidate your iTunes library Open iTunes. Select Consolidate files. Click OK. To save space on your hard drive, you might want to delete the original files after you make sure that the copies are in your iTunes Media Folder.

The iTunes Music Store also lives on inside the Music app, giving you the option to purchase your music instead of subscribing to a streaming service. While iTunes may be dead in the newest versions of macOS, it still lives on elsewhere. If your aim is to access your old iTunes Library on your iPhone, the good news is that it's possible, the bad news is that it's not quite as simple or free as you might hope. Apple has several options available, each with benefits and drawbacks.

You might not be able to play songs if you move the references to them. The next time you add an item to your library, iTunes places a copy of the file in your iTunes folder; the original file remains in its current location. If you want items to appear in iTunes but also remain in their original location, deselect this checkbox.

The imported playlist includes only songs and videos already in your iTunes library. Unavailable items are removed from the list. The exported information is saved in XML format.
