This is a way to control how many fries they eat. If you think you still have too much, skip several more feedings per week. Lose them tip 4: Along with tip 3, remember not to put too many hiding places for Guppy fry such as plants and tunnels. If the Danios can seek out most of the fry, your Guppy count would stay low with only a few fries surviving per brood. These are all compatible with your Guppies, too, and would do the job as well.
In our experience though, Zebra Danios have the energy and therefore appetite to do the job effectively. Being part of a community fishkeeping group online or in your town would also give you access to people who might be interested in buying them from you. You can also take them to a pet store that may or may not buy them from you depending on the quality of the fish.
You might adore these fish but you should stay in control. Overstocking is a very real threat to the longevity of all your fish. Sponge filters are the simplest, most inexpensive type of filtration in an aquarium.
It has been trusted by multitudes of fish keepers since time immemorial. But is it a good Cichlid filtration Mar 25, 1, 0 0 Ireland www. Try dropping some food in different locations at the same time ,this way all your fish should get a fair share of the food. I cant see you having any problems keeping guppies and danios togather but you might think about adding some bottom feeders to help clear up the food that they miss Cheers.

I made a mistake when I first started my parents tank last year and added guppies right away. They quickly lost there colour and a month later I had no guppies. I doubt you will be able to breed guppies in that same tank as all the abbies will probably get eaten before you get a chance to get to them. If you feed a variety of food at the same time such as a floating flake and a slowly sinking granual then the fish will have options and the guppies will be able to get plenty of food.
There is going to be a seperate breeding tank for the fish. The guppies will not be added until after I have successfully bred the danios at least once so that probably won't be for another month. The main reason I asked if they could live together is because if they cannot, maybe I should look for a different species?
One thing I have learned reading these forums, is that every time one person has a problem with a certain fish or combination of fishes, there will be others who do not. Not discounting character traits, there also has to be other factors involved numbers, tank set up or the ever-present nobody really knows.
I think a lot has to do with who is there first and in your case if it is the zebra danios, then you might have a problem. But you might not. If you have your heart set on guppies, I'd say give it a go. Search forums. JavaScript is disabled. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. I wouldnt do it. First of all, youir pleco needs to be rehomed. It will get over a ft long. Secong of all, your sig says you already have danio's with guppies. Also, wouldnt you know if they go togther. They dont, not unless you have a big tank. You will be overstocked if you add guppies, you are already slightly overstocked as is. I agree, you pleco needs to be re—homed. They get way to big for a 10 gallon. Danios are nippy and will nip and harass the guppies so I strongly suggest not adding guppies.
Danios are fast swimmers and need a lot of swimming space and a 10 gallon does not provide a lot of swimming space. Phatphish New Member. Plecos are a type of algae eating catfish, but instead of staying on the bottom, these fish roam the sides of the tank, the plants and decorations in a constant search for algae.
Many different types of plecos, such as the candy striped pleco, will fit nicely into an aquarium along with guppies and zebra danios, but in time some of these fish may outgrow the tank, become territorial and need to be moved. Until they outgrow the tank, plecos make excellent and peaceful members of the community. Types of Fish. By Cindy Quarters.
